The cooling system of plastic mold is so important?(图1)

First of all, the design of the cooling system is crucial to the molding cycle of the plastic product.

During the plastic molding process, the thermoplastic needs to be cooled and hardened in the mold cavity so that it remains solid and has enough strength to be removed. If the cooling time is too long, it will lead to low production efficiency; On the contrary, the cooling time is too short, which will lead to local shrinkage or deformation of plastic products. Therefore, ensuring the proper cooling system design can improve the speed and output of plastic production lines.

Secondly, the cooling system can also affect the quality of plastic products. Uniform and rapid cooling of plastic products can reduce internal stress, improve the structural stability of the product, and thus reduce the production rate of nonconforming products. In addition, excellent cooling system design can also reduce the generation of eddy current, porosity and other defects, improve the quality and smoothness of the product surface.

The correct cooling system design needs to consider several factors

1.Choice of coolant: Common coolants are water, oil and air. The choice of the right coolant needs to be considered according to the type of plastic, molding cycle and product requirements

2. Cooling channel layout: The cooling channel layout has a variety of forms such as linear, surround, dot matrix, etc. Different arrangements will have different effects on the cooling effect and the injection process. At the same time, the cooling channel should fully cover the entire mold to ensure uniform temperature distribution.

3. Channel size and quantity: The size and quantity of the cooling channel should be designed according to the size, shape and requirements of the product. Too small channel size will reduce the cooling effect, and too many channels will occupy mold space and increase manufacturing costs.

4. Cooling effect of the cooling channel: The cooling effect is related to the shape, length, diameter of the channel and the heat transfer medium in the channel. Designers need to choose these parameters reasonably to obtain the best cooling effect.
